Berthoud Main Street – Program Manager

(Part-Time (approximately 20 hours/week)

The Main Street Program Manager provides coordination services to support the Berthoud Main Street program in partnership with the Berthoud Main Street Board of Directors, downtown stakeholders, the Town of Berthoud, and Colorado Main Street.

This position is expected to average approximately 20 hours per week and may be filled as either a W-2 employee or an independent contractor (1099), depending on the selected candidate and employment arrangement. The position is primarily work-from-home, with regular attendance at board meetings, community meetings, events, and stakeholder meetings in Berthoud. Compensation for a W-2 employee is $25/hour. Contract compensation will be negotiated based on qualifications, experience, and scope of services.

The Program Manager serves as a primary point of contact for the organization and supports board leadership, committee coordination, and overall program organization. Work is performed independently, with priorities established in collaboration with the Board, and in alignment with the Colorado Main Street and Main Street America framework.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Berthoud Main Street, the Town of Berthoud, and Colorado Main Street
  • Coordinate communication between the Board of Directors, committees, volunteers, and community stakeholders
  • Support committee and volunteer progress on annual work plan priorities
  • Provide administrative and organizational support to the Board and committee leaders

Program Administration

  • Support implementation of the Berthoud Main Street annual work plan and strategic goals
  • Attend and assist with board meetings and committee coordination as needed
  • Maintain program records, documentation, and organizational files

Program Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit required Town of Berthoud and Colorado Main Street quarterly reports and program documentation and metrics.
  • Metric include: businesses opened/closed; jobs gained/lost; public-private investment in the community; housing, volunteer hours; and events/estimated participation.
  • Assist with preparation of annual reports and program updates for stakeholders and the Town of Berthoud

Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain consistent communication with downtown businesses, property owners, volunteers, stakeholders, partners and the Town of Berthoud
  • Present, at minimum annually, the State of Berthoud Main Street report to the Town of Berthoud
  • Support communication tools, including newsletters, website updates, and social media
  • Represent Berthoud Main Street at regional meetings, trainings, conferences, and Colorado Main Street events, as appropriate.

Strategic Support

  • Support initiatives aligned with the Main Street Four-Point Approach
  • Assist with the coordination of projects that enhance the downtown environment for businesses and the public, preserve historic character, and encourage community engagement
  • Assist the Board with grant writing, sponsorship outreach, and fundraising initiatives as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Experience in downtown revitalization, economic development, historic preservation, small business support, nonprofit management, communications/marketing, public administration, and/or grant writing is preferred.

Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, support volunteers, and maintain momentum across several initiatives.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, communications, marketing, economic development, community development, nonprofit management, historic preservation, planning, tourism, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
